About The Author
MARCIA RUTH ROPER, RD, CDERegistered DietitianCertified Diabetes EducatorI have worked with diabetics for 8 years. The majority of my work has been with Native Americans and it is with the help of my patients that I have developed The Healthy Plate Program. Whether someone is newly diagnosed or has had it for many years this program helps people to control their own condition without dependence upon anyone. My mission is to empower you with the information you need to be in control of your diabetes, and consequently your life. Some patients do everything their doctor tells them, take everything they are told to take, and they still die from complications. My father was one of those patients. He walked 5 miles a day, ate according to the medical recommendations and took the medication prescribed by his doctor. These premature deaths are ABSOLUTELY UNECESSARY. In fact, if you follow the program you will see that a lot of things are unnecessary, including the condition of diabetes itself. The following are some tidbits that might be of interest to you about my background. And remember, I am a resource for you . . . use me!
